CYCLING: Witham Wheelers time trial trio post quick times

A trio of local riders recorded quick times in the Alford Wheelers Open 10-mile time trial on the reasonably fast Gunby to Ulceby roundabout and back course.

The event was won by VC Beverley’s Darren Yarwood in a nippy 20min 33sec.

Local results: 21 Ehren Courtman (RPD Racing) 24:21, 23 Martin Lister (Witham Wheelers) 24:29, 28 David Herd (Witham Wheelers) 25:59.

+ The latest round of the TLI Lincolnshire Handicap Road Race League was promoted by Witham Wheelers on the Skillington circuit.

Thirty-six riders were split into three ability groups with eight minutes separating the first and last riders. The handicapping proved to be pretty accurate as all three groups finally came together on the drag out of Skillington with three miles to go on the final lap.

In a close sprint, the current leader of the league, junior Kieran Hotson from Grimsby, proved too strong and took a clear victory. Best of the local riders was Ehren Courtman in a good eighth place.
