EQUESTRIANISM: Grantham schoolgirls finish second at Royal Windsor

Four KGGS students qualified for the Royal Windsor Horse Show at Keysoe Equestrian Centre in December 2016.

Lena Proctor, Lily Walker, Julia Mann and Lucy Moore made their way to Windsor Great Park, in the shadow of Windsor Castle, where the girls came up against 23 other very strong teams from all over the UK, hoping for a successful day.

As the last team to jump, many of the opposing teams watched the KGGS girls, anxiously hoping to hold their positions.

After a very long day, themselves watching lots of other teams struggle around a very challenging course, the girls managed to end on a fabulous score of four faults, putting them in joint first place.

And so the final placings went down to their time. Only seconds separated the top three teams with the KGGS girls having to settle for second place, was an amazing result considering the level of competition, plus they were one of the youngest teams competing.

Once again, the girls would like to show their huge appreciation to Mrs Turner for organising all of the events for the girls, and giving up so much of her time into supporting and fundraising for the teams.
