A charity football match between Grantham Town Legends and Harrowby United Legends is being staged at The Meres stadium on Saturday (May 2).

The winners of the match will be presented with the Marge and George Freeston Memorial Trophy.

One of the charity match organisers, Jay Harrison, said he wanted to see a nice big crowd come and help Alana achieve her dream of seeing the princesses at Euro Disney.

He said: “I want to the town to unite and support this special little girl. I remember as a young boy that the town united and supported Grantham Town v Man United for Christopher Buckingham all those years ago.”

The gates to The Meres ground will open at noon where there will be stalls selling everything from cakes to face painting, along with a kids’ ‘beat the keeper’ challenge.

There will also be a raffle with prizes including a two-night stay for two in York, a meal for two at Bombay Brasserie, a meal for four at The Farrier, a DAB radio, a £50 voucher and many more.
