Players were queuing outside Grantham Town FC club secretary Pat Nixon’s office on Tuesday evening to sign on for next season.
First up was newcomer Curtis Burrows who has joined from Ilkeston. Burrows had a brief loan spell at The Meres last season which was unfortunately cut short by injury.
In addition to the four contracted players (Stefan Galinski, Danny Meadows, Lee Shaw and Michael Hollingsworth), the following members of last season’s squad have all committed to the club for next season: Ben Harris, Jake Turner, Jamie McGhee, Ellis Storey, Grant Ryan, Lewis Carr, Jack Beckett, Sam Purcicoe, Ben Saunders, and Aiden Kirby.
Also joining is young striker Sam Hankin, from Ayleston Park, the same club that Harris came from last season. In addition, Rhys Lewis, who was not available on Tuesday, will sign later this week.
Speaking after Tuesday’s training session, manager Adam Stevens said: “I am delighted that we have got so many players tied up so early.
“We have a competitive game on Friday against Lincoln City in the county cup and we will be fielding our strongest line-up for the game.
“There will be opportunities for some of the other lads currently training with us to force their way into the squad as pre-season progresses.”
+ The Gingerbreads have two pre-season matches this week.
Firstly, their Lincolnshire Senior Shield quarter-final clash with Lincoln City at The Meres on Friday, kick-off 7.45pm), and then a friendly at Harrowby United on Tuesday evening, kick-off 7.45pm.
+ How would you like to directly support The Gingerbreads’ playing budget for the upcoming EvoStik Premier Division season?
The ‘Town Tenner’ was set up as a way to do this and is done by donating £10 a month by bank standing order.
As part of the scheme, not only do you get to watch The Gingerbreads knowing you have a direct influence in the what players boss Adam Stevens can bring into the squad, you will also be entered into monthly draws throughout the season and receive VIP invites to events held by the club.
Members of the Town Tenner will also receive free entry to both Gingerbreads friendly matches against Kings Lynn Town and Mansfield Town on July 19 and 26 respectively.
To sign up visit www.granthamtownfc.com and download the Town Tenner application form and either bring it prior to a match, handing over to Sophie Cope or Pat Nixon, or email it to firstname.lastname@example.org
