The Gingerbreads Soccer School held its first ever Half Term Soccer Day last Monday.
Starting at 9am, the group were first given a tour of the stadium before enjoying two hours of football skills and games.
Lunch was provided in The Gingerbread with all the participants enjoying their sausage and chips. A game of quick cricket started the afternoon session, which was followed by a football game. To finish the activities a penalty shootout competition was held.
Across the day, all the young players were assessed to choose who was the Sport Person of their age group.
Thanks to David Black of DB Fire Safety, the Sports Persons and penalty shoot-out winners all received a trophy, which were presented by Kia Motor Group.
The under-8 Sports Person was Harrison Bexon, the prize for the under-10 Sports Person went to Ashley Crowther, and the under-12s award was given to Loren Hindmarsh.
The penalty shoot-out winners were Edward Brown and Carter Rayner. A special award was presented to Luke Kennedy-Short.
The success of the day could not have happened without the help of coaches Paul Teare, Andrew Lambley and Jack Shaw, along with the assistance of Ben Webster and John Petkovic.
The club expressed a special thank you to Sue Leete for her assistance with the registrations and welfare, and Emma Lambley for making sure everyone was kept fed and watered.
l The Gingerbreads Soccer School runs every Saturday morning at The Meres, 10.30-11.30am, and is open to anyone from ages five to 12. For more details contact Paul Teare on 07873 134181.
