Buckminster United 3

Bottesford 2

Buckminster started this match very slowly and were on the back foot from the start.

On a rare foray into the visitors’ half, a ball over the top gave Zak Le Hair, on his first start of the season, the chance to use his pace, and he rounded the keeper and finished to give Bucky a surprise lead.

United could not get their usual passing game going and did not really create too much going forward, but the visitors, although enjoying more possession with the slope, were not creating a lot themselves.

The second half saw some improvement for the home side but after a deflection on a cross, Harry Nicholls was beaten on his near post and Bottesford were back in the game.

The home side started to keep the ball better and were looking much more dangerous. A 20-yard free kick was curled nicely into the far top corner to give the Bottesford keeper and restore Bucky’s lead.

Once again though, poor play from the home side saw the visitors draw level when a cross into the box was flicked in off the head of the attacker.

Buckminster poured forward and the introduction of Howe seemed to give the home side a more settled look.

With the clock running down, Bucky were awarded a penalty for handball which Moore slotted home to banish the memories of his previous misses and give his side all three points.

Buckminster man of the match was Danny Moore.
