After back to back defeats, it was important the Swans got back into winning ways to keep the pressure on current leaders Buckminster United.

Greyhounders’ workrate throughout the first half was relentless and limited the Swans chances on goal.

Swans’ first clear opportunity came after Pettit sent Wilson on his way down the right. He cut the ball back to the on-running Clarke who saw his shot blaze over the bar.

On 40 minutes, Swans got their breakthrough. Jones found himself outnumbered at the back and, with Greyhounders flooding forward, made a perfectly timed tackle.

He picked himself up and rolled the ball into Clarke’s feet who found Wilson in some space on the edge of the area, Wilson turned his marker & finished well into the bottom right of the goal to send Swans in 1-0 up at half time.

Swans started the second half strongly, with the opposition having to also contend with the sun which was causing the keepers considerable trouble.

The pressure paid off when Wilson scored on 55 minutes after Johnson played him in for his second.

Searching for the goal to wrap the game up, one of the wave of Barrowby attacks led to a Greyhound defender mishitting a clearance straight into the path of Wilson who clinically finished for his hat trick.

Man of the match was Ryan Jones.
