Lincolnshire County Sunday Cup

Fourth round

Ropsley Fox 3

Magnet Tavern 2

The visitors capitalised on a nervy start from the hosts. Dan Maddison forced Lewis Watson to commit a foul in the box and Maddison picked himself up to slot home the penalty.

Foxes showed great spirit to work themselves back into the game and they earned themselves a penalty after a handball in the box. Joe Clarke stepped up and dispatched the spot kick.

The Ropsley side continued to press and they got the lead shortly before the break when Barry Payne connected with a Steven Young corner to make it 2-1 at half time.

The second half continued in much the same vein with Ropsley doing most of the pressing. The tireless running of Nick Hardy and tricky feet of man of the match Steven Young kept Magnet Tavern firmly on the back foot.

With 15 minutes remaining Clarke broke down the left and drilled the ball accross the face of goal for Danny Winters to prod home. A last minute goal from Magnet set up a nervy last few seconds.
