Grantham & District Sunday League
Springfield AFC 5
Springfield guaranteed promotion, and still have a chance to win the league, after a battling performance against Ropsley.
Both sides were down to 10 men after just a minute after they kicked out at each other.
The incident spurred Ropsley into life and they scored two quick goals. Fine goalkeeping by Ropsley’s Neil Graham kept a clean sheet until half time.
The second half saw a different Springy team. They pulled a goal back when Luke Abel poked past Graham.
The home side levelled when John Duncan scored from a corner. Shaw squared for Abel to grab his second, and he completed his hat trick with a super volley from a Shaw cross.
Shaw sealed the win with a fifth.
Man of the match was Scott Webb.

AFC Croxton 3
Croxton secured a place in the final after an edgy, defensive first half.
The visitors had the best of the possession but neither side had the edge to make the final touch count.
The visitors maintained the pressure after the break as the game started to look like going to penalties.
Bottesford went down to 10 men following a red card and Croxton used the one-man difference to their advantage.
Two quick goals from Chris Bothamley and Tom Boyfield put the visitors in a commanding position, with Bottsford losing another player to a red card.
Croxton were able to take their foot off the gas but still added another goal when man-of-the-match Boyfield rounded the display off with his second.
Croxton’s Miguel Jeronimo received a red card in the dying seconds.
AFC Croxton will now meet CK Dons in the final on April 13.
