Harrowby United on target despite defeat to Newark

Have your say

Harrowby United 1

Newark Town 3

HARROWBY United’s first pre-season friendly ended in defeat against a strong Newark Town side.

But there were a lot of encouraging signs and performances in a game that Harrowby dominated, with a lot of possession and the creation of better chances.

Newark took the lead against the run off play when a long ball was not dealt with and Ellison chipped the on-rushing Drury.

Still having the lion’s share of the play, Harrowby finished the half strongly with Shaw and Wilson giving the Newark defence a lot to think about.

There were changes at half time from both teams but Harrowby remained on top.

Weatherstone scored a deserved equaliser and substitute Wormall hit the post when the ball looked to be rolling in.

Newark experience told in the end and they scored two late goals to seal the win.

It was a really positive performance from the new look Harrowby team who can count themselves unlucky not to get something out of the game.
