Great Ponton 2

Ancaster Centurions 1

In a heated but fair game, Great Ponton came out 2-1 winners over their closest rivals.

The first goal came in the opening 10 minutes with a brilliant counter-attack for Baxter to slot the ball into the bottom left.

But Ancaster came back with a goal of their own to level the scores.

Centurions moved up a gear and put Ponton on the back foot but could not find the net as home keeper Tom Pearce stopped everything they tested him with.

In the third quarter, Ponton found their feet and the game became end-to-end with both keepers and defenders proving tough to beat.

Late on in the third quarter, another fine finish from Baxter sealed the game as Ponton shut up shop, with Ancaster unable to find an answer.

Ponton’s man of the match was Baxter.

Long Bennington 5

Hykeham Tigers Bees 6

Dan Cox fired Bennngton ahead after five minutes but the lead was shortlived as the Bees replied straight from the restart.

The jinking Iwan Evans once again put Bennngton ahead following a strong run and shot from the corner of the box.

This stirred the Bees into life and they drew level from the penalty spot and took the lead moments later from a free kick when, following a Panch-matia save, the ball fell to a Hykeham player who stabbed home from close range.

Cox added his second as Bennington drew level on the stroke of half time.

Hykeham took the lead and then increased it against a tiring 10-man Bennington.

Refusing to give in, Bennington came again. With 10 minutes remaining, Tom Baker smashed home from distance and then Evans added his second and drew Bennington level at 5-5.

A long ball over the top saw Hykeham snatch the game with the last kick of a dramatic game.
