New Newark Youth League

Farndon 1

Gonerby 2

A positive start from Gonerby led to the first chance of the game for new signing Marley Okoth, but the home defence held strong.

Okoth and Ben Bramley continued to cause Farndon problems, but against the run of play the runaway league leaders struck the first blow after a defensive error from Gonerby.

Gonerby continued to press and finally got their reward with a neat finish from Marley.

Gonerby continued to press in the second half and created the better chances. In the last 10 minutes, Farndon finally found some form, but man of the match Jakub Nowak and his defence, including the exceptional keeping of Fin Stewardson, kept them at bay.

With seconds to go, Bramley broke through and coolly chipped the keeper to record a fine victory.

Gonerby: Stewardson, Hardy, Scott, Nowak, Grieh, Coates, Robson, Okoth, Bramley, McNulty, Wiliamson.

Mid Lincs League

Barrowby 0

Nettleham 2

The top two teams in the division met for the first time this season and with both unbeaten, the game was always going to be a tasty affair.

With neither team allowing each other any space, chances were few and far between.

Nettleham tried play everything through their dangerous number eight who had a couple of efforts wide of the target. Barrowby were a threat on the counter attack, with Wright getting the better of his marker on a couple of occasions.

Foister also broke clear but could not apply the finish with a defender in close attendance.

Nettleham broke the deadlock 10 minutes before half time from a freekick, Stead firing in from 20 yards .

The second half was much the same, with both midfields and defences on top.

Barrowby man of the match Edwards went close and a Hands cross just avoided everyone in the box.

Chasing the equaliser, Barrowby suffered the ultimate sucker punch when a mistake in defence was pounced on by Stead to seal victory for the league leaders.

Barrowby: Read, Down, Cooper, Fedorson, Evans, Edwards, Cullen, Wright, Foister,French, Hands, Johnson.
