Great Ponton 5

Skegness 4

Despite looking the stronger team straight from the whistle, Ponton found themselves one goal down after 15 minutes.

Frustration from Ponton started to show and it was not long before they conceded their second goal. This seemed to give Ponton the determination to push on and soon Barry Harrison chipped the keeper to grab Ponton their first.

Striking partner Ayden O’Brien got himself on the scoresheet just before half-time, making it 2-2.

Shortly after the break, Harrison scored his second goal of the game to put the home side ahead for the first time. Celebrations were short lived as Skegness managed to equalise after breaking through the Ponton defence.

Despite some great saves and clearances from man of the match Ted Sweeney-Biffen, Ponton found themselves a goal behind once again, after failing to clear their lines quick enough.

A late change of formation prevented Skegness from breaking through again but it looked to be all over with five minutes remaining.

Then up stepped O’Brien to score two goals in two minutes, completing his hat-trick and giving Ponton a very well deserved win.
