Blidworth visited Barrowby keen to avenge the Grantham side’s narrow victory two weeks previously in yet another fiercely contested promotion battle.
In the first 15 minutes, Blidworth started far more assertively and they deservedly took a two goal lead through top scorer Gibson.
However, following a half time chat the home side took to the field in a determined and positive manner, looking to get the promotion campaign back on track.
Milne, Kay and Brewill put in some fine midfield work which meant that the supply to the opposition’s Gibson was stopped in its tracks and Barrowby started to build pressure and momentum.
Very quickly the home side found themselves 3-2 up, and a fourth goal via the predatory Ludew was harshly judged offside.
Unlike the previous encounter, this did not galvanise the Blidworth team but gave the home side added desire to finish the game and a fourth goal came via the on-form Brewill.
Blidworth’s confidence was further dented when a penalty was missed and thereafter the Barrowby defence of McCann, Loveless, Sandon and Parks dealt gamely with the Blidworth attacks. The fine second half display from the home side secured three vital points and saw the team take top spot in the division.
Barrowby goal scorers were Ludew, Milne (2) and Brewill, whilst man of the match was Milne.
