A Tom Baker hat trick and a goal apiece from Jack Coulson, Alfie Terry and James Baker saw Bennington romp home in a game they controlled from start to finish on their return to league action.

Bennington man of the match was Jack Traves.

Both teams looked to be heading into the break level until Oliver Reid latched on to a through-ball and held off two defenders, for Will Barron to cross to Ross Hollingworth who fired low into the bottom corner.

In the second half, Josh White took a short free kick to Ian Goode whose shot was saved. Reid then crossed for Bartek Stasiak to volley his first goal for the club.

Ten-man Barrowby rose to the challenge and produced a Barcelona-like 25 minutes, scoring four times through Ian Goode, Will Barron (2) and Kyle Scott.

The tempo dropped in the second half but Oliver Reid added a fifth before the home side scored a late consolation.

The first game of the new year resulted in Barrowby’s first loss of the season.

Neither side did enough to win the game in normal time, both having equal amounts of half chances without threatening to score line.

Barrowby missed their first penalty and converted the remaining four but with Fishtoft dispatching all of theirs, it was the home side that made it through to the quarter-finals.

Edwards was Barrowby’s man of the match.
