Northampton Sileby Rangers 2
Harrowby United 0
Harrowby United were defeated by an unanswered goal in each half by league leaders Northampton Sileby Rangers.
The Arrows did create the game’s first chance when Liam Harper was released out on the right flank. Harper cut inside before shooting, only to see his effort saved by Rangers keeper Darren Watts’s outstretched leg.
The home side went ahead after six minutes when a free kick from the half way line was headed down by centre back Dan Chilton to Rob Foster, who calmly slotted past Harrowby keeper Jack Drury.
An awful tackle after 23minutes on Arrows top scorer Martin Wormall earned Rangers’ Phil Cassidy a yellow card from referee Mr Lake. The injury to Wormall saw him try to carry on, but he failed to reappear for the second half.
Harrowby almost levelled just before the break when they were awarded a free kick on the edge of the penalty area for a foul on Harper. Tom Vorley’s effort from the kick brought a good save from Watts who turned the ball on to an upright.
The Arrows’ injury woes increased after the restart when on 54 minutes Jack Whyley was stretchered off with a damaged knee after his studs caught in the turf as he attempted a tackle.
Rangers doubled their lead on 75 minutes when Michael Byrne laid a ball back for Mark Redding to score.
The rest of the half was played out with the home side happy to keep things tight and the Arrows were unable to make any inroads on the Rangers goal.
Harrowby United’s man of the match was Matt Hodgkin.
