The Gingerbreads welcomed more than 100 footballers with female and male attendees from five-year-olds right through to 15-year-olds on Saturday.
The new-look youth structure proved popular as the club confirmed there will be at least six youth teams at Grantham Town for the 2017/18 season.
Proving equally as popular is the Academy U15s and U16s with 40 trialists; the scouts and coaches have been able to whittle the numbers down into two squads that will represent the football club in the Junior Premier League, with fixtures against other academies including Mansfield Town, Coventry City, Burton Albion and many more.
Speaking after the academy trial, Academy head coach Alex Cross commented on the successful day: “Firstly, I want to thank the parents and the children who attended; it was fantastic to see so many kids enjoying being involved at Grantham Town FC.
“It is great to see the club supporting the youth and the academy. We want to grow the U5 to U16s as much as we can and today was certainly a step in the right direction.
“The plan is to bring in as many community teams as possible, with opportunities for both males and females. It is also vital that the Academy 15s and 16s work as effectively as possible in year one, so we can look at extending the teams for next season.”
Alex would like to encourage anyone to come forward with a son or daughter who wants to play football at Grantham Town.
