Grantham Cricket Club are hosting Belvoir Cricket Club tomorrow (Friday) evening when the two sides compete for The Jack Wildman Trophy at Gorse Lane.

Historically, the two sides played annually for the trophy, presented by Jack Wildman who had played for both clubs during his cricketing career, but unfortunately the has competition fizzled out over recent years.

The idea to resurrect the trophy came about following the sad passing of umpire Vic Heppenstall.

Vic, whilst a long standing club stalwart at Belvoir CC, was also a good friend of Grantham CC and regularly officiated in junior as well as senior cricket, and it was thought it would be a fitting gesture for both teams to play for the trophy this year.

The game will take place tomorrow at Grantham CC, Gorse Lane, Grantham, with play starting at 6pm. The bar will will be open and there will be a barbecue. All are welcome.
