GOLF: Belton Woods ladies celebrate at annual dinner
Belton Woods Golf Club held its annual presentation dinner on Saturday.
In the ladies’ section, winner of golfer of the year was Jackie Wilson, and most improved golfer was Kylie Bullimore.
Members and guests enjoyed a lovely meal as the trophies won over the year were presented, and then danced the evening away.
The November Stableford was won by Jackie Wilson 34 points(silver division), and Bev Warner 31 points ( bronze division).
The November medal was won by Wendy Stewart with 82 net ( silver division) and Elaine Lilley 84 net ( bronze division).
Traditionally, all early November club competitions were of a charity flavour and raised a total of £300 for the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.
The Tuesday Ladies were drawn into teams of three for a Texas Scramble medal, with best team winning RBL Gold Medals, and the happy recipients were Jenny Hilton, Linda Whittaker and Jeannie Priest. One shot behind were Amanda Roberts, Alison Reid and Joan Alton, who were presented with poppy coffee mugs. Sue Chambers, Doreen Fardell and Glennys Sanders were in third spot, with poppy key rings as keepsakes.
The Thursday Senior Individual Stableford was won, from the Championship white tees, by John Costall with a fine scorecard of 37 points. John was presented with a RBL Poppy Gold Medal. There were also Gold Medals for the best return of Handicap Category 4 who was Colin Henfrey and runner-up in Category 1-4, Pete Armstrong.
The main club played their monthly Saturday Qualifier, in stableford format, with 51 participants. There was a countback on scorecards of 41 points, between Andy Stones and Ronie Alipio. Andy was overall winner, with 21 points on his back 9 holes, and receiving his RBL Gold Medal. Ronie won Category 4, also to receive a Gold, and his coun-back was 19 points.
Both players now celebrate new handicaps, their personal lowest to date, with Andy reduced by 0.6, down to 11.0, and Ronie cut 1.2 to 21.3.
