GOLF: Mackinder enjoys successful Sudbrook senior stableford


Sudbrook Moor’s Graham Mackinder enjoyed a very successful senior roll-up stableford last week.

With the best score overall of 41 points, 23 out and 18 on the return, Graham’s handicap was cut from 15.8 to 15.5. CSS was 40 points.

He also recorded a birdie two on the third hole and, as the only competitor in the optional sweep, he took that jackpot prize as well.

In second place was 20-handicap Alfie Kent with a card of 40 points (19 out and 21 back). Runner-up in Category 4 was Kay Kay who carded 39 points (21/18), and Harry Cutmore was third in Category 1-3, followed by Dave Guy, Maurice Green, Dave Leslie, Pete Armstrong and Walter Hrubesch.

l Dave Leslie remains leader in the Winter Seniors’ Thursday Eclectic, with John Johnson and Graham Mackinder close behind. Dave Guy has slipped back to fourth spot.


With snow and ice on the course and greens, Stoke Rochford seniors’ Winter Warmer competition was altered to a nine-hole greensome.

Thirty-one players took part and the winners with 22 points, including birdies on each of the first three holes, were Keith Dugmore and Phil White.

One point behind in second place with 21 points were seniors captain Mike Nixon and Alan Dolby, on countback from third-placed Roland Slack and Barry Coop.

Overall leader in the multi-round Winter Warmers is Brian White with 34 points, with Alan Dolby second on 29 points, Phil White (28) third and Don Clements fourth on 25.
