GOLF: Stoke Rochford ladies celebrate promotion
Stoke Rochford ladies’ handicap league team (pictured) are celebrating winning Division Two and securing promotion back into the top division of the South Lincolnshire League.
The promotion was secured with a 3½-½ home win against Belton Woods.

Overall winner of the large field competing in the Saturday August Monthly Medal was 24 handicap Gary Benbow.
His winning scorecard of five under CSS yielded Gary the month’s maximum Order of Merit points in the year’s Sword of Achievement, in which only one of the top 10, Paul McCarthy, scored August points.
The day’s results moved Paul McCarthy from third to second, Andy Newman down to second, whilst and Amanda Roberts remained leader for another month.
Jon Machin continued to show his worth and his score of three under CSS won the prize for the best of Handicap Category 1 to 3, the best gross prize, and he retained top position in the summer six month Eclectic.
Jason Turner is finding his form too, returning after a long retirement from the game, and he took third spot.
Best of Category 4 were Mark Boulton, Jonathan Oxby and Ivor Metcalfe. Best ladies’ card of the day was from Jo Pearson, on level CSS, from Judith Hutton, two over. Sue Watson birdied the 12th hole and took a third share of a very large twos sweeep with Andy Stones (6th ) and Chris Wilmot (16th ).
The Summer Eclectic, led by Jon Machin, has an exciting pack of net scores from Darren Nicholson, Andy Newman, Chris Wilmot, Keith Moore, Cameron Sunman, Andy Stones and Paul McCarthy. Current title holder Phil Hall is midfield.
l Chris Thompson won the weekly Tuesday Ladies’ Roll-Up Stableford with an amazing scorecard of 46 points. Runner-up was Jenny Hilton, continuing her good form, and Anne Parker was third.
