GOLF: Sudbrook seniors roll-up beats the weather

Have your say

Sudbrook Moor

SUDBROOK Moor’s 12-bay driving range and practice facilities have proved valuable for players during the recent icy blast of snow and frost, but the club did manage to squeeze in a seniors’ roll-up qualifying competition between spells of bad weather.

A very creditable six over CSS winter medal card from 18 handicap Graham Mackiinder won him first place. One shot behind in joint second were Pete Armstrong and Ken Crowe. Ted Johnson finished fourth.

l The club’s ladies’ team truly made their mark in the friendly fourball betterball matches last year, beating Boston clubs Kirton Holme and Boston West, and Orton Meadows of Peterborough.

A triangular handicap league is to be launched this year to be contested by Sudbrook Moor, South Kyme and Pottergate (Lincoln). The league will be tailored to suit smaller clubs where enthusiasm for more matchplay experience is evident.

But the popular calender of friendly fixtures, formed over the past 15 years, will also be retained.

Belton Woods

ROUND six of the Pairs Winter League was an American Greensomes Stableford, held on the Woodside course with ½ combined handicap allowance.

Winning pair with 41 points were B. Robinson and S. Pigott. One point adrift were R. Palframan and C. Sneesby. Third with 39 points were T. Fox and D. Lee on countbackk from M. Haynes and J. P. Bowers, and R. Hughes and S. Allen.
