King’s School student Josh Peters was selected for the National Talent Camp at Loughborough University because of his commitment to coaching water polo.

And he has recently been presented with the overall Young Coach award.

The award was presented by Baroness Sue Campbell and British Triathlon performance manager Jonathon Riall.

King’s School PE master Cathal McHugh said: “What an achievement. Very few students are awarded places on this course nationally, let alone win the award for overall young coach of the year.”

Head of rugby at King’s, Mr McHugh has also seen his students enjoy success out of school of late.

William Rush represented the Irish Exiles against the English Lambs recently.

Mr McHugh said: “This is a great achievement as the Irish Exiles are an elite rugby squad picked from all the best independent schools in the country, and William was the only player selected from a state school to play for this representative side.”

More success has seen King’s School students Jonny Law and Will Seage make the full Under-16 Notts, Lincs, Derbys squad for 2017, and both have put in impressive displays against Leicestershire and Staffordshire so far, making the starting XV and not just the squad.
