Grantham Tennis Club's Mini Orange team take league title

Grantham Tennis Club’s Mini Orange 9&U A team continued their run of great form by clinching the Lincolnshire Team Tennis Summer League title last weekend.

The team of Toby Park, John Sheardown, Henry Thomas, Noah Rogers and Elijah Killen-Smith won all five league matches against teams from Boston, Louth, St James, David Lloyd Burton Waters and Grantham's B team, including 70 per cent of games played.

The Mini Orange 9&U B team played David Lloyd Burton Waters in their final league match last weekend and recorded a convincing 14-6 victory which saw them finish fifth overall. Representing Grantham were Elijah Killen-Smith, Sam Finlan, Henry Robson and Luke Daybell.

A strong 14&U Grantham team faced Burton Waters, Lincoln, last Sunday.

After two compelling rounds which included one singles match and one doubles for each player, the two teams were tied at three matches all. A 10 point tie-break ensued with Burton Waters winning 11-9 to clinch the match.

Representing Grantham were Olly Thomas, Jamie Wallace, Josh Eyles and Thomas Legard.

GTC’s Boys' U12 team played against Boston A in their penultimate league match of the season, winning by a huge scoreline of 10-2. Representing the club were Alex Harris, Josh Harris, Ben Greening and James Timms.

The boys are currently top of the league with the final game to rearrange.
