Grantham Town and college hold opening football trial

An open training day will be held for Sleaford Town Junior FC on Saturday, October 22

The inaugural trial for the new Football Development Centre being offered by Grantham College and Grantham Town was held last Sunday.

Players in attendance over the two hours were put through their paces in a series of fitness tests and technical drills, and it finished with a small-sided game.

Head coach Stephen Hunt said the initial impression was very positive, with some very promising footballers on show.

He said: “It was a great start for all involved. The boys worked really hard throughout their first session and it’s looking very positive.”

Russ Cousins and Stephen, along with Bob Harris at the college will now be meeting to begin planning pre-season training and the course content for Year One.

Students who attended last Sunday who will now be invited for an interview in respect of the course.

More trial dates are yet to be set.
