Grantham Town announce sponsor for next season
Grantham Town Football Club this week announce that local company Simon Hopkins Electrical Services will be The Gingerbreads’ main sponsor for the 2016/17 season.
Not only will the company, now entering its 10th year of trading, have their name on the first team shirts, but they will also be sponsoring the dug outs at The Meres and have pledged to support the project to refurbish the old tea bar at the stadium to provide a much needed income stream for the club.
Speaking about the sponsorship, Simon Hopkins said: “Growing up as a local Grantham lad, my dad John has always been close to football with him being a local referee. I remember going to games as a youngster with my brother and sister. Refereeing the last Grantham Town game on London Road was a local claim to his fame.
“I had two left feet and I prefer to watch the game rather than play.
“All the best for the Gingerbreads.”
Grantham Town director Sophie Cope said it was fantastic for the club to have secured next season’s sponsor so early on.
She said: “It’s testament to how far the club has come over the last couple of years. It gives us more time now to secure other sponsorship and advertising before the new season is upon us.
“Simon approached the club about sponsoring a match after hearing how fantastic the hospitality was from another big sponsor of the club and never looked back. After realising the potential of such a big club and hearing the plans for Grantham Town’s Academy for 16-18 year olds starting next season, Simon was very keen to be a part of these exciting times at the club.
“We as a club would like to thank Simon for his support and are looking forward to welcoming him along with his colleagues and& family to the club, and they will be a regulars at games next season.”
Grantham Town are looking for businesses who may be interested in sponsoring the new Academy which offers full time education and football coaching for 16- to 18-year-olds.
