With the start of Grantham Town’s new Northern Premier League Premier Division season only two weeks away, the Gingerbreads won both of this week’s pre-season games and have just two friendly matches left to play.

The big game, of course, is the visit of Nottingham Forest to The Meres on Tuesday night – a fixture not seen for the best part of 20 years. Kick-off is 7.45pm.

The Gingerbreads’ final pre-season game is a visit to Rugby Town next Saturday (August 6), kick-off 3pm.

Grantham impressed at The Meres on Tuesday night when they hosted Mansfield Town, scoring twice in the first seven minutes – the opener from that man again, Danny Durkin. Also on the scoresheet were Jamie McGhee and Grant Ryan (see match report).

And then last night (Thursday), at Lincoln United, the Gingerbreads were again victorious, running out 2-1 winners with second half goals from Lewis Carr and Danny Meadows. United pulled a goal back late on.
