Darlington 2

Grantham Town 0

The Gingerbreads recorded the same result on Tuesday as when Darlington visited The Meres two weeks ago.

A bumper crowd of 1,734 turned out hoping to see Darlo claim the championship, but the Quakers’ fans celebrations were put on ice as title rivals Blyth Spartans also won against Rushall Olympic on the night.

Grantham were undone by two first half goals – Leon Scott on 11 minutes and Amar Purewal 13 minutes later – and, despite another battling performance, were unable to find a reply.

The Gingerbreads have their final game on Saturday when they host Colwyn Bay at The Meres.

Kick-off is 3pm.
