'Stevo' resigns

Grantham Town manager Adam Stevens has parted company with the club just over a week after the Gingerbreads' heart-renching defeat in the play-off final at Ashton United.

'Stevo' has been at the club three-and-a-half years, beginning as assistant to Wayne Halcro in 2014 before taking his job the following January to take Town to a 12th place finish.

The Gingerbreads finished 18th the following season and went close to the play-offs in the 2016-17 season.

The pinnacle of his Grantham career was this season, taking Town to the NPL play-off final after an unforgettably exciting season.

The announcement has taken all at the club by surprise, with Stevens citing "personal reasons" in a Tweet this week.

The club issued the following statement: "The board of directors would like to place on record their thanks for all Adam's time and dedication whilst at the club and would like to wish him well in the future.

"The board will be meeting to discuss the management position and further details will be released in due course."
