Grantham Town’s FA Trophy journey begins at Basford

The Gingerbreads’ FA Trophy first qualifying round match sees them travel to Nottingham side Basford United on Saturday.

Basford, who are on the crest of a wave at the moment, having gone unbeaten for six games throughout the month of October.

United defeated AFC Rushden & Diamonds 3-1 away in the preliminary round of the competition at the beginning of the month.

FA Trophy debutants Basford play a league below Grantham in the NPL Division One South, in which they are in fifth place.

Players include former Gingerbread Deon Meikle and wide midfielder Cory Grantham.

Kick-off at Greenwich Avenue (NG6 0LD) is 3pm and admission is £6 adults, £4 concessions and £1 for under-16s.
