On Sunday, 250 gymnasts took part in a primary and secondary competition at The Meres leisure centre.

Allington School was thrilled to win the Under 11 Girls team event with Maisie Collins, Esme Knapton Carter, Abi Prince, Mazel Brown and Lydia Edwards, the Advanced Girls Under 11 with Esme Knapton Carter in first place, the Under 7 Girls winner with Jessica McMahon taking first place, and a bronze medal in the boys Under 9 competition with Ashton Fitt.

Allington School headteacher Leane Barr praised Carole Foote’s dedication and hard work, adding: “Gymnastics is thriving in and around the Grantham district thanks to Carole Foote and her brilliant crew.

“The standard was exceptionally high and our school’s young gymnasts were particularly inspired by the spectacular floor routines performed by the secondary school pupils.”
