GYMNASTICS: Grantham schools perform well at county championships

Four Grantham schools were represented and creditably won both individual and team awards at the Lincolnshire Schools Gymnastics Championships at Queen Elizabeth Grammar School, Horncastle.

Cliffedale again performed consistently in the Under-11 girls competition, taking equal top spot with Horncastle on 77.8 points, with Huntingtower closely following behind on 76.0.

St Mary’s took third place in the Under-11 mixed event, only 0.2 behind Cranwell in second place.

Not to be outdone, in the Under-9 girls team, Cliffedale just squeezed ahead of Saxilby by 0.3 to take the silver position, following a very strong team from St Hugh’s Primary, Lincoln in first place

Individually, there were several high placings from all four schools: Under-9 girls level 1 – Ella Sutherland 2nd (Cliffedale), Under-9 boys level 1 – Seth Roberts 2nd (Huntingtower Academy), Under-11 girls level 1 – Ella Walker 2nd (Huntingtower Academy), Under-11 boys level 1 – Myles Sadler 2nd (Huntingtower Academy), Under-11 boys level 1 – Sam Hammond 3rd (Dudley House), Under-11 boys level 2 – Harry Clements 3rd (St Mary’s).
