Harrowby United completed their last two pre-season outings.

First they visited Leicester Senior League Premier Division runners-up Melton Mowbray, against whom they drew 1-1 after coming from behind.

After a goalless first half, the home side took the lead through Jack Baker early in the second period.

The Arrows equalised two minutes later when Rick Brewer worked hard to close down a defender, robbed him of the ball and fed Jordan Thomas. The Harrowby striker laid the ball square for Kieran Helmsdown who fired home from the edge of the penalty area.

On Saturday, after another goalless first period, Harrowby saw off a young Boston United XI with a five-goal blitz, the Pilgrims only managing to notch a consolation.

The first goal came when a corner to the far post was headed square by Sam Hill, finding Billy Stubbs who nodded home inside the six-yard box. Kieran Helsdown added a second from the penalty spot after Simom Bolland was brought down in the area, following a fine foray from midfield.

Another run from midfielder Bolland, shortly after, saw him advance into the Pilgrims penalty area and apply a cool finish to add a third.

George Bobbins pulled a goal back for the spirited Boston outfit, before a fine drive from John Currall cannoned back off an upright and an alert Helsdown finished from the ensuing scramble for Harrowby’s fourth.

Jack Whyley headed in a fifth for the Arrows at the far post from a Bolland corner to complete the day’s scoring.

Harrowby begin league action on Saturday when they visit Northampton Spencer in the United Counties Premier Division. Kick-off is 3pm. They are also away for their second on Tuesday night when they travel to Boston Town. Kick-off 7.45pm.
