HOCKEY: Former KGGS pupil helps GB team to place at Olympics

Dry Doddington hockey ace Shona McCallin was part of the Great Britain team that earned themselves qualification for the Olympic Games in Brazil, 2016.

GB triumphed in the World League finals tournament in Valencia, Spain, to win gold and a coveted place on the dream trip to Rio.

Twenty-three-year-old former KGGS pupil Shona is one of the younger squad members, a midfielder, she played in nearly all the matches.

Currently ranked eighth in the world, GB were seeded fifth in the tournament but won all their pool games, the semi-final and then the final when they defeated China 2-0 on Sunday evening.
