INDOOR BOWLS: Grantham bowlers go through to national final

It was a good weekend for Grantham bowlers with a team making it through to the EBF Rinks Final.

The team, comprising Nigel Smith, Jason Lewis and Mark Eurich, triumphed at Lincoln to take themselves to the nationals which will be held in Newark next month.

Back at home, Grantham and District Indoor Bowls Club’s annual Victor Wood Trophy saw 36 entrants contest the competition.

Outright winners were three ladies, one of whom has only just begun bowling indoors, namely Jean Burton, Elaine Meakins and Brenda Patten.

Joint runners-up were the teams comprising Linda Appleyard, Allan Palmer and Tony Asher, and John Morris, Judy Morris and Ian White.

The event was organised by Roger Turnbull and the trophy and monetary award was presented to the winners by George Thorpe of Victor Wood.
