Not satisfied with being crowned the female UK Junior Masters Champion in September, Katie Tagg travelled to Dublin to successfully defend her under 19 Junior Irish Open title.

After bowling eight qualifying games on Saturday, the youngster – who bowls at Grantham – averaged an astonishing 225, which made her the top-ranking player going into to the following day’s action.

On Sunday, Katie (pictured) bowled three more games which were equally high scoring and she was number one seed going into the round robin finals.

The other three finalists – from Scotland, Sweden and Slovakia – pushed her close, but such was her lead she held on to take the title, two days before her 18th birthday.

Including her under 16s win two years ago, this is now Katie’s third consecutive Irish win.
