Max Brown makes his professional boxing debut in Colchester on Saturday, June 30, on the undercard of the WBF International title fight.

He will be fighting Marty Kayes, from Ireland. Kayes is a seasoned campaigner with 43 professional fights to his name and is the current British Masters Welterweight champion.

Browny's Boxing Gym head coach and Max's father Russ Brown said: "This is an extremely tough debut fight for Max, but we want to be chasing professional titles and we need to beat opponents of Marty's calibre to get to where we want to be."

The bout is of four three-minute rounds and Russ has Max sparring eight three-minute rounds with two different types of sparring partners to get him ready for his debut pro fight

Russ said: "We are learning every day and these things take time. Max is fortunate enough to be able to train as a full-time boxer, but we are looking for sponsors that are interested in joining him on his journey. This is just the beginning."

Tickets are still available from Max or from Browny's Gym at the bottom of Dysart Road.
