McCallin is back on GB duty ahead of Olympics

Dry Doddington hockey international Shona McCallin has been representing Great Britain at the Champions Trophy this week at Lee Valley Stadium, London.

The event is seen as a warm-up for this year’s Olympic Games in Rio and features the top six-ranked countries in the world -

Twenty-four-year-old McCallin, who trains full time with Great Britain hockey and is based at Bisham Abbey near Maidenhead, started Saturday’s opening a fixture, a 2-2 draw with Argentina.

This was followed by a 2-0 defeat to the Netherlands a day later, in which she was a used substitute.

On Tuesday evening, McCallin was back in the starting line-up for a 1-0 defeat to New Zealand.

Last night (Thursday) GB faced the USA, ahead of their final pool contest against Australia tomorrow (4pm).

The GB hockey Olympic squad will be announced on Tuesday.
