Belvoir Archers’ top longbow exponent Steve Gamble did the double at the weekend, winning the British Long Bow Society Indoor Championships and the East Midlands Archery Society Indoor Championships.

Steve (pictured) won the BLBS title at Rotherham on Saturday with 119 hits out of 120 arrows, with his overall score for the double round being 429.

The following day’s East Midlands championships were hosted by Sherwood Archers.

Shooting the last session of the day, he arrived to find that Dean Hirst (Derwent Bowmen) had put in 427 in the middle session. But, shooting 438, one point short of his personal best, Steve took the trophy for the fourth time.
