BADMINTON: Grantham mixed team enjoy comfortable win over Mars

Grantham Badminton Club comfortably won 8-1 in their Melton Division Two mixed home match against Mars B.

Laura Graves with Josh Gould won all three rubbers as did Sophie Turley with Mike Woodhouse. Sarah Bransby with Ian Witham picked up a further two.

Grantham men’s firsst team travelled to Ollerton where they were narrowly beaten by 5-4 in Newark Division One. Ben Johnson with Jan Bailey, and Nick Gill with Joe Attwell, each won two rubbers out of three. Reserve Rob Howbrook with Martin Chambers narrowly missed on claiming the decider.

The ladies’ first lost 6-3 at Westside in Newark Division One. Kerry Durham with Sophie Turley won two rubbers, and Jaz Gilbert with Susie Steeples won one, but Sandra Jennings with Laura Graves lost all three of theirs.

Grantham mixed first team were in action twice this week. Away in Newark Division One they faced Lincoln Albion, to whom they lost 6-3. Kerry Durham with reserve Toby Mills won two rubbers, Chris Parrot with Jaz Gilbert won one, and reserves Rob Scarborough with Kat Perry lost all three of theirs.

At home against Cross Rackets, they were much more impressive and pulled off a 9-0 whitewash. Kerry Durham played with Jan Bailey, Susie Steeples with Toby Mills, and Chris Parrot with Jaz Gilbert
