SOUTH Kesteven was well represented at the Lincolnshire County Junior Badminton Championships held at Lincoln University last Sunday, with local players bringing home winners’ trophies.
Grantham’s Rose Botowt teamed up with Meg Anderson from Stamford to win the under-15 girls’ doubles without dropping a set. Meg then partnered Lincolnshire’s Matt Travis to take her second winners’ trophy of the day in a nail-biting three-set under-15 mixed final, beating Lincolnshire’s David Tierny and Megan Vaughan 11-21, 21-13, 21-12.
In the under-15 girls’ singles final, Grantham’s Rose was overpowered by her opponent Amy Clarke and had to settle for the runners-up trophy.
In the under-13 mixed competition, Grantham’s Daniel Watson was runner-up in the mixed doubles.
Megan Hassell from Bourne won the girls’ under-11 singles in straight sets against Megan Diddle from North Lincolnshire. The two Megans then joined forces to take the under-11 girls’ doubles winners 15-4, 15-5.
