South Kesteven Badminton Academy duo Andrew Watson and Carl Jennings triumphed in the annual Nottinghamshire Junior Association Attewell Tournament.
Contesting the under-17 age doubles category, 15-year-old Andrew and Carl, 16, won all four group games with scores of 15-13, 15-9, 15-6 and 15-9 to send them soaring through to the final.
The best of three games to 21 final saw them lose the first game but they recovered in the second and fought their way to victory in a nail-biting third game.
Andrew and Carl thanked their Academy coach Rod Tyler for his “valuaable training, support and commitment”.
Andrew said: “Looking at the very high standard of play in Nottinghamshire, we never even expected to get to the tournament final. To win was unbelievable.”
l Andrew was appointed as a Young Official at the Center Parcs National Schools Championships in Sherwood Forest last month – one of only 10 selected by Badminton England.
The West Grantham Academy St Hugh’s School Gold Sports Ambassador completed his Young Officials Award in February and said it had been pleasure to be involved in such a large event.
He said: “It was a very rewarding experience and good to see the best players in England battling it out for the title.”
