GRANTHAM Badminton Club’s second mixed team entertained a two-pair Cross O’ Cliff first team at home in Division One of the Newark League.

Table-topping Cross O’ Cliff’s two pairs were just too strong for Grantham and won six rubbers to three, after conceding the three rubbers of their absent team mates. Paul Mayfield paired Sandra Jennings, Adrian Ackroyd was with Jo Desorghes, and Jon Ashley paired Moira Mills.

Grantham’s Melton League Division Two mixed team demolished Mars B with a 9-0 home victory, helped by Grantham’s mastery of feather shuttles. Rob Scarborough paired Kerry Durham, Josh Gould joined up with Sophie Turley, and Rob Howbrook was with Sarah Bransby in a good humored contest. Mars vowed revenge when the return match is played at Melton with plastic shuttles in April.

Grantham men’s A played Belvoir away in the Melton League and lost eight rubbers to one. Declan Hill with Josh King won the only Grantham rubber. Adrian Ackroyd with Paul Izod, and Dave Chambers with Toby King, lost all their rubbers against a strong Belvoir team.
