The success of last Saturday’s show at The Meres leisure centre has convinced promoter Carl Greaves boxing has a bright future in Grantham.
A crowd of around 1,200 fight fans saw an action-packed, 11-fight bill topped by three title fights.
Adam Kettleborough, Daryl Baptist and Jamie Williams all picked up belts, Callum Johnson and Leigh Wood kept in British-title contention with knockout wins, and South Witham’s Chris Glading made a winning professional debut.
The 27-year-old light-middleweight was a points winner against Mike Jones in their four-round bout.
Greaves described the contest between Glading and Jones as “one of the best fights of the night” and hopes Glading will be back in action in Grantham in June or September.
Greaves topped the bill the last time there was professional boxing in Grantham way back in 1999 and the former WBF world super-featherweight champion said: “I was really, really pleased with how the show went.
“The venue is definitely one of the best in the area and to get the support we did proves people in Grantham want to see top-quality professional boxing. I’m definitely planning another show there, possibly in June or September.”
