FENCING: Josh qualifies for British Youth Championships

A TEENAGER from Foston has qualified for the British Youth Championships at Sheffield in May.

Fifteen-year-old Josh Myers finished third at the East Midlands Epee qualifier at Oundle on Sunday to cement his place in the national event.

A member of Frisby Fencers, Josh and two of his clubmates filled three of the top four places.

Josh is Lincoln Minster School fencing captain and has been involved in the sport for just under three years

He trains every Monday with Frisby Fencing Club, near Melton, and also with East Midlands Cadets at Loughborough every other Friday.

As well as qualifying for the British championships, Josh has also this year become the Northampton under-16 epee champion.
