SUDBROOK Moor’s end of year matchplay knockouts have been concluded.

As always, indications are clear as to who has had an on-form season as names rise to the top in more than one of the events’ results.

Three names who enjoyed reaching the final rounds were Mike Koranski, Mick Lincoln and Andrew Green. Mike played his way to four finals, of which he won two. Mick was his fourball betterball partner in the Sunday knockout and Andrew was his other successful partner.

Mike and Steve Davis lost to Jim Gorski and Andy Brown, Mike and Jack Dodwell lost to Phil Hall and Chris Winfield.

Chris Winfield equalled Mike’s achievements in winning two finals, including a tough one partnered with Anthony Wagstaff against Phil Hall and Rob Keddie.

Steve Davis had one win and two second places. He triumphed in the prestigious anytime all-comers knockout in a tough final against Jim McArthur. In the scratch knockout, Steve gave Rob Keddie a really tight game right to the end of the course, but took second place.

Jim Hope enjoyed an excellent season, winning the mixed fourball betterball with Joan Alton, the weekday fourball with Peter Hughes, and finished as runner-up in the junior combined event with grandson Tom Evans. Jim lost to a tough opponent in the weekday singles final, with Mike Dyason coming out on top on that occasion.
