Stoke Rochford seniors played the latest round of their Winter Warmers competition, a drawn pairs better ball.
Players were able to choose two holes before the round on which both scores counted.
Clear winners with 50 points were Peter Gill and Alan Dolby, ahead of Brian Ayto and Dave Wilkins with 48.
Third place was decided on countback with new seniors captain Graham Manton and Mike Palmer having a better back nine than fourth placed Phil White and Tim Haward, both pairs scoring 45 points.
Eddie Plant retained his overall lead on 30 points, Greg Ewart and Peter Gill each have 26. Seventy five players have competed.
Don Werner now leads the Slack Goblet chase with eight single points, nine others have seven singles.
There was a super turnout in Saturday’s spring-like weather for in the start of the 12 month Series of Rainbow Stablefords, with a representation from ladies, seniors and gents, and a handiacp spread right across the board.
Reigning Rainbow champion Onie Ison was not available to compete and start accumulating his Order of Merit total, as he was away on business.
The overall winning scorecard of 43 points came from Dave Templeton, playing off a handicap of 28, a clear lead of two points from the other Handicap Category 21-54 second best score of 41 points, returned by Jonathon Oxby.
Claire Breathwick led the lower handicap Category with her card of 40 points. There was a cluster of other great returns in both Categories, from Orlando Pabunan, 39, Barry Rohland, 39, Kev Waddingham, 39, Jason Turner, 38, Karl Mitchell, 38, Alan Cuthbertson, 37, and Jeff Ward, 36.
The twos pot sweep was shared on the par threes by Andy Stones, Jonathon Oxby and Kev Waddingham on the third hole, Claire Breathwick on the 15th, and Jason Turner on the 16th.
l Braving a wintry morning, the Tuesday ladies had the option of both a nine hole and 18 hole Stableford. The winning scores were returned by Joan Alton and Amanda Roberts, from Diane Leslie and Shirley Gardiner.
