Two Grantham swimmers travelled to Ponds Forge in Sheffield last week to compete at national level in the ASA Age Championships.

Leah Roughan swam a great race to finish in the silver medal position in the 200m breaststroke and a few days later finished in fifth place in the 100m.

William Hawkes swam a wonderful 100m breaststroke race, improving his personal best time by three seconds, to progress to his first ever national final in which he improved his time by another second from the morning swim and overall finished in seventh place.

He broke county records in the 100m and 50m breaststroke (on his split) and achieved the fastest ever time by a Lincolnshire swimmer in this event in any age group.
