King’s School gymnasts represented East Midlands at the Floor and Vault National Schools Finals at Fenton Manor, Stoke-on-Trent, last Sunday.
The under-14 team started first on the floor, scoring 54.3 which immediately placed them in the running for a medal place. With four vault scores above 14, and Cameron Chow the second highest in the age group with 15.2, Kings managed to stay in the bronze position, just over a mark behind the second placed team from the Eastern region.
King’s under-14s were Benji Garment, Cameron Chow, Hal Dexter, Ryan Champion and Ethan Richards-Cole.
King’s under-19s worked well and produced some clean routines, finally placing sixth overall. It was a tough competition and King’s fielded a young team against gymnasts from other areas who were from the upper limit of the age group.
King’s under-19s comprised Tom Wharmby, Elliot Brown, Daniel Watson, Jacob Armstrong and Ryan Poole.
