Classic motorbike racer Jason Dixon returned to action at Brands Hatch over the weekend after a break from the track of almost a year.
Competing in the opening round of the Thundersport GB Golden Era Superbikes race series, Jason qualified his Aprilia 11th on the grid for race one on Saturday.
His bike hooked up well off the start line and he immediately picked up a couple of places down Paddock Hill. Jason slowly made progress and crossed the finish line in seventh.
Conditions were still good for the day’s second race but Jason dropped a few places after he made a poor start. Having to battle from start to finish, he crossed the line in eighth.
The aggregate time for Jason’s Saturday races placed him 13th on the grid for race one on Sunday. He managed a reasonable start and picked up a couple of places on the opening lap and took the chequered flag in ninth.
Jason settled into a good pace in the final race of the weekend and was up to ninth again, before he rolled off at Clearways where there was oil on the track, causing him to be pipped at the post for 10th.
Sunday’s races will be televised on Motors TV on March 27 at 9pm. The next rounds of the championship will be at Donington Park on the weekend of April 12/13.
Jason expressed thanks to his team and sponsors HPC Homes, Treads to Go, Gregoire Besson and JJ Mac.
